4 Islands Tour / Emerald Cave

There are many companies doing 4 island tours on different types of boats, starting from around 1000 baht for a day trip.  All of them include lunch and soft drinks, and stop at four different islands.  You will probably snorkel in at least four locations, and will certainly stop at the emerald cave (see below).  Most stop at Koh Ngai (Koh Hai), Koh Chuek, Koh Ma and Koh Mook  and maybe Koh Kradan, although it can be any four of these islands.  They are all beautiful to behold as you skirt the coast, with amazing limestone formations and caves.  The beaches on all of the islands are very distinct, and all gorgeous, with crystal clear waters and a stunning variety of corals and fish.

Koh Muk/Emerald Cave

The legendary emerald cave is on Koh Mook.  At low tide, a cave opens up from the sea.  You will swim around 100 meters through this cave (pitch black inside, but your guide will have a light) and end up at a small, hidden cove, with a white sand beach and surrounded by towering, rain forest covered cliffs, the cave being the only access.  Pirates used to hide their booty here, for obvious reasons.  When looking from the cave towards the cove, the water takes on an almost fluorescent emerald glow; hence the name.
